AC Repair

Review of Comfort Matters

Repair person was on time, friendly, capable, and thorough. He did a great job. The main problem I had was, how far out my scheduled appointment was from the date I called Comfort Matters. I know a lot of people had AC problems, but two weeks was a long wait.

Mitch was very professional and friendly. Wonderful service

They were very responsive, and on a very cold Sunday! Very knowledgeable and helpful. Fixed our furnance, had parts in their truck and the price the repair was quite reasonable. We were very happy with there service and would definitely re moment them to others.

New motor

Review of Comfort Matters

The motor installed in 2005 stopped working; had to get a new one. The new one we bot is extremely noisy, supposedly because it's not a variable-speed one.

Great service. Being a preferred customer is worth it!

Professional and very patient while explaining the issues with my air conditioning units.

great service

Review of Comfort Matters

Polite, professional; all went well; the large block of time needed is a little challenging but workable. Each time I've scheduled services between 2-5 I asked to be more toward 5 and every time they come at 2. I do appreciate that they call 30 minutes before arriving though; that makes it much easier.

Motor and furnace operating well at this time. Recommend changing furnace air filter. Duct pressure readings slightly high at this time. Air cleaner filters should be swapped out every 3-4 months.

Upon arrival, the furnace was heating with no issues. The customer had stated that there was constant heat going to the 2nd floor even when there was no call for heat on the 2nd floor. The main floor thermostat was set for heat and the 2nd floor thermostat was not, voltage was tested for at the 2nd floor damper. There was proper voltage being sent to the damper to close it, but the damper would not close. It was determined that the damper motor was failed. The motor was replaced and the operation of the zone system was tested. All damper motors are operating correctly at this time. The customer had also stated that the humidifier was leaking. A humidifier precision tune up and cleaning was performed. Remove current water pad, clean off pad housing and water distributor. Clean out humidifier box. Clear out drain line. Replace with new water pad. Test operation of humidifier. After the tune up was complete, the humidifier was not leaking anymore. The customer also signed up for a mont

Furnace precision tune up; clean and tune up furnace; clean burners, test ignition components, adjust gas level, test safety circuit, check indoor motors, checked all electrical components, tested indoor air flow, checked heating temperatures, and tested overall furnace operation. Found water leaking on the ground when arrived, added a diagnostic to determine where the water was leaking from found the water leaking from the water softener drain line. Would need to replace drain line and add better hose clamps to prevent water leaking again. Also found the furnace blower motor to be dirty this will cause loss in performance on the furnace and also but extra unnecessary wear and tear. Also found the furnace filter to be restrictive, this will put more stress on the system then it should. To correct all of these issues I would replace the drain line, clean the blower wheel and upgrade to a better filtration system. All recommendations have been declined at this time.

Water heater was leaking upon arrival. After further diagnostics I found that the water heater tank itself was leaking from the inside. With this being the issue the only way to fix this is to replace the tank. Customer wants to move forward with a new water heater, we will be back out on Wednesday 1-19-2022 at 12 to install a new tank with an upgraded warranty kit.

Diagnosed flame safety to be failing, it is testing out of range. Also found blower motor wiring harness greasy, blower is also showing signs of failure. System replacement is encouraged. Arrived to find furnace not operating. Flash error code was 3 flashes, stating a pressure safety was stuck open. Power was going to exhaust motor, but was not running. This motor must run to satisfy pressure safety. Motor was hot to touch. I confirmed exhaust motor has burnt up and failed. Replacement of motor is recommended to get furnace up and running. Customer would like to replace motor with the option on a different day. That will include the return fee, inducer warranty, and response and diagnostics fee. I collected half down for the repair at this visit.

Customer explained how A/C was not working. I turned it on and everything came on correctly. Capacitor is in range. A/C starter is in poor shape. Refrigerant charge is good. Checked wire connections in furnace and at A/C, both look good. Didn’t find any other problems on A/C. Replacement should definitely be considered due to age and condition. Will have Jacob come out 9-27-21 to quote replacement.

Apon investigating mechanical room water leak found that the water softener drain had come unattached from the drain line and had soaked the furnace and garbage can next to it. Drain needs to be reinstalled facing directly downward so it does not spray. Tested AC unit is working properly at this time.

Customer stated they spelt a antifreeze smell in home, yesterday and once last week. Didn’t smell like antifreeze in home. Filter is in need of a new one, refrigerant levels appear to be ok. Unit would need to be cleaned to accurately confirm that. Everything else appears to be fine. I would recommend a A/C tune up, new filter, lastly a IWave. IWave’s are proven to kills viruses and odors in home.

Arrived to find Ac fan running outside, compressor not running. Found failed Ac motor booster for 1st compressor, replaced and only 1st compressor would run. Found 2nd compressor very hot and shorted out on thermal overload. Cooled down with water and it would still not start. Tested electrical components and found start assist failed, temporarily connected new one to see what the other issues are. Connected refrigerant gauges and confirmed with tech support that indoor TXV is failed and stuck shut. Parts are over a week out. We can fix system but other issues could still arise. Due to age and condition of system, replacement is recommended.
