No communication established with work and this caused trouble and damage to property.

Review of Comfort Matters

The plumber was only concerned with the plumbing and not my home. He failed to work with me and establish communication with me, nor did he seem to care to. This caused conflict and damage to my property. his plumbing work was excellent but it was not worth the extra work and damage it caused after he left. The freshly constructed wall and trim will have to be redone.

Response from Comfort Matters:

Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with me today. I truly appreciate it. We can gain so much knowledge from amazing customers like you. I am excited to review what we discussed with our plumber, and I know he will find growth in your gentle feedback.

Good service, knowledgeable technician

Review of Comfort Matters

Technician answered all of my questions without looking annoyed. As a first-time home buyer I cannot comment on price. Seemed like a lot to install a small part, but he spent a good amount of time testing and getting it installed so I am happy with it.

Great Service

Customer had a water heater installed by us a few months back. Not long afterwards their pressure went down, despite having very high static pressure of 90 psi. Anything over 80 psi per code is actually supposed to be reduced. I noticed when I put a pressure gauge on the pressure dropped instantly when opening a faucet, then would slowly return to 90 psi when the faucet was closed. Multiple faucets could not be on at the same time. I received permission to put their very old water softener into bypass. This does not allow water to flow through the resin tank. Immediately the water pressure was restored. This indicates the water softener needs to be replaced. The resin in the tank has turned to mush restricting water flow. Gave option to replace the softener and left the old softener in bypass by request. Customer was not told of a response fee and therefore did not pay for one.

AC precision tune up. Clean and tune up AC; cleaned condenser coil, checked all outdoor electrical components, tested indoor air flow, checked refrigerant levels, and tested overall AC operation. Motor starter, motor booster and blower booster are failing. Blower wheel is dirty. Pipe insulation worn down. Refrigerant charge is also low. Replacement is highly recommended, system will have troubles maintaining temperatures. Customer would like to hold of on replacement and repairs at this time.

AC precision tune up. Clean and tune up AC; cleaned condenser coil, checked all outdoor electrical components, tested indoor air flow, checked refrigerant levels, and tested overall AC operation. Found the system not cooling properly when taking temperatures. Set the fan speed to the correct speed and found the temperatures still not being satisfied. Hooked up my refrigerant gauges and found the system to be low on charge. With the age and already having complications with cooling would highly suggest replacement of this system. Chris a will meet with you on Monday at 530 to go over replace Options. All recommendations have been declined at this visit.

Bottom half of dielectric unions were pretty rusty and looked like that is were the water was coming from. I replaced these bottom portions and put new thread tape and pipe dope on both. I also replaced the gasket between the bottom and top portion. Verified no more leaks for about 30min Let the homeowner know to keep an eye on it periodically to see if it leaks again

Installed customer supplied vanity and faucet. Siliconed backsplash to vanity top, and wall. Vanity secured to studs behind the wall. Option was given to open wall to repipe drain to accommodate a new drain location because he already had the vanity location set between pieces of baseboard. We would not be responsible for wall repair afterwards. Michael did not want to open the wall. I gave another option to move the vanity over a few inches to prevent opening the wall. He wanted me to do that option. I started working and had to remove the left piece of baseboard to slide the vanity in the new location to secure it tight to the wall. When he saw this he became angry because he wanted to use his multi tool to cut it in place next to the vanity. I was not aware that he wanted to do this since he didn’t communicate this, but he said I didn’t ask. The baseboard on the left need to be cut then secured to the wall. The piece of baseboard on the right need to be removed, a new piece cut, the

Upon arrival, the thermostat was powered calling for heat, but the furnace would not do anything. The power was cycled and it still did not work. Proper voltage was confirmed to the control board and there was 24v across R to C wire on low voltage terminals. The LED on the control board would not illuminate as well. It was confirmed by technical support that the control board was failed. This specific control board is back ordered from the manufacturer but there will be one shipped to the Comfort Matters warehouse before the end of this week. A half down payment was already collected for this repair of $151.95. The other half, $136 will need to be collected as well. The customer also signed up for the Sunshine Club membership.

Arrived and customer explained furnace would not keep up with et thermostat temperature. Thermostat was set at 68 and holding 68. Today is warmer outside so furnace may not be working as hard. Evaluation of furnace showed a very very high duct pressure in the return air duct. This pointed to check the filter. Took pressure drop across the filter and found the filter was completely plugged. Pulled filter out and found it was coated in humidifier dust. Informed customer that space humidifiers emit fine dust that plugs filters quickly. Replaced filter and found pressure then dropped significantly. Recommend using less restrictive filters to prolong life of unit and increase airflow and efficiency. Furnace running normal at this time.

Customer explained how gas company came out yesterday for a tune up and found combustion gas’s in room while water heater and furnace run. The co levels on both furnace and water heater are low, but there was backdrafting gas in mechanical room. Customer did say the roof was replaced a few years ago. Inspected wind cap on roof to find wind cap pushed all the way down, therefore there was no ventilation at outlet of pipe. Removed wind cap and increased height of cap placement on pipe. System is now venting properly with no backdrafting. Did find 3 gas shut off valves that are not up to current code. Existing gas valves are known to leak gas. No leakage at this time, but due to safety reasons, I shut gas off to water heater, stove and dryer. Customer will have gas company make repairs on those items. Did find both the flame safety and ignition assembly showing evidence of failure, repair is recommended. Furnace is 30 years old, replacement is encouraged.

Arrived and furnace fan was running, no heat blowing. Found error code 33 on control board, stating limit circuit fault. High limit was open, not allowing circuit to be completed. Checked filter. Filter was completely plugged with humidifer dust. Customer informed me that she does have a space humidifer upstairs. This emits a fine white dust that will plug filters very quickly. Removed filter and verified operation. Furnace never reset error code. Bypassed high limit and furnace fired normally. High limit failed, most likely due to many cycles. Replaced high limit and performed a Furnace precision tune up; clean and tune up furnace; clean burners, test ignition components, adjust gas level, test safety circuit, check indoor motors, checked all electrical components, tested indoor air flow, checked heating temperatures, and tested overall furnace operation. Furnace precision tune up. Pulled and cleaned burners. Inspected heat exchanger for any visual defects, did not find any at this time. Tested ignition assembly components. Checked all remaining electrical inside of the unit, measured motor amp draws for correct operating range. Inspected blower wheel for dirt and debris. Checked airflow for proper air movement. Measured combustion and gas pressure for safe levels. Ensured temperatures were within manufacture desired performance. System is heating and operating at this time. All repair options were declined at this time and replacement of this unit was highly recommended.

Found the duct pressure to be higher then the furnace rated, explained what duct pressure is to the homeowner and what it could cause, would encourage a electronic air cleaner to one help with clean air in the home and also allow good air flow for the furnace. Unit not working upon arrival. #57 fault code. High stage pressure switch fault. Reset power and had same issue. Voltage across switch and switch wouldn’t close. There was plenty of pressure to switch. Replaced both high and low pressure switch and didn’t have further issues. Would also recommend a non pleated filter going forward.
